Relations between CSOs and LGAs in Singida are still rocky!

It has been established that the relationship between Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Local Government Authorities (LGAs) in most districts of Singida are still rocky despite the little improvement.

Recent visits to Iramba, Manyoni and Singida Urban have revealed that relationship between CSOs and LGAs are sour and need immediate attention if the two sides are to partner.

Apart from Iramba it was noted during the open dialogues between CSOs and LGAs that neither of the two parties has confidence in the other.
According to the LGAs in Manyoni the reason for the mistrust has been due to earlier acts by the CSOs, in which they fund raised for the common good but ended up using the funds for personal gains.  Manyoni CSOs agreed with the LGA but said that they had since put their house in order by getting rid of the bad elements which were denting the image of CSO sector in the district.
The LGA also noted that despite the demand by the CSOs that they participate in the local governance systems, CSOs in Singida Region generally have low capacity.
In a bid to alley this challenges the CSOs and LGA in Iramba and Manyoni drafted work plans aimed collaboration in capacity development of CSOs.
Through out the visits the CSOs and LGA stressed that TANGO should continued with the visitation but should focus on strengthening CSOs in the area of organizational development and governance.
The visits were support by the Finish Service Centre for Development Cooperation (KEPA).
